Join us for our special events
Our next inebriated reading will take place in Ferndale. That's right, we are spreading the Shakespeare in Detroit love, during the month of love, in Southeast Michigan. These inebriated readings serve as fundraisers for our work in schools, Shakespeare STEAM. You can learn more about our educational work c/o a recent story on WDIV, Channel 4 in Detroit by clicking on the link here.
Our company of actors will be reading an abbreviated version of William Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The first round of cocktails is on us! You'll receive a Maiden's Muse made with White Blossom vodka, honey, Dry Curçao and lime. That's right, it is a cocktail with wonderful qualities just like the Princess of France. And, of course, you can buy more at the intermission. OR, stick around as the bar opens to the public at 4:30 p.m. and have more drinks at this awesome bar with our friends at Valentine Vodka! MUST BE 21 OR OLDER TO ATTEND.
Do good by supporting our educational work and feel good with some of the best liquor around!
You'll also be automatically entered into a raffle to win cool swag/prizes with the price of your ticket.
So grab your Valentine and come to Valentine Vodka to celebrate Love with us during this laid-back reading of Shakespeare's comedy.
Shakespeare in Detroit (SiD) and Republic Tavern are teaming up for an inebriated and abbreviated reading of one of Hollywood's most well-known classics -- well sort of -- it's much shorter, lighter and fun. The theatre company's adaptation is inspired by the 1939 film and makes good fun of the Civil War drama. The complimentary first drink of the afternoon is infact called "Gone with the Gin" which includes rosemary and thyme-infused gin, cardamom maple and grapefruit bitters, one of the establishment's signature cocktails. That's right, the first round is on SiD!
MUST BE 21 OR OLDER TO ATTEND.
SiD will be joined by the creator of the drink, one of Republic Tavern's incredible mixologists, who will also introduce a new conceptual beverage, "Frankly, my Belvedere" to our private audience, and you will be able to provide feedback about this exclusive drink (which is not available on the menu, yet). If you are interested, this second cocktail will be available for purchase at the intermission.
You'll also be automatically entered into our drawing to win cool prizes, per usual!
Our inebriated reading series helps us raise funds for our work with 3rd through 12th graders in Detroit via Shakespeare STEAM which teaches the Science of lighting a production, the Technology of sound design, the Engineering of a form or costume, the Art of classical performance and the Mathematics of building a set.
Thank you to our partners at Republic for making this event possible!
