Sam White, Founding Artistic and Executive Director

The award-winning director and administrator has trained in the Michael Langham Workshop for Classical Direction at the Stratford Festival (Ontario, Canada), the Director's Intensive at Yale (New Haven, CT),served as the Paul Nicholson Arts Management Fellow at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and directed at the regional Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival as well as The Old Globe (San Diego). She has taught in the School of Music, Theatre & Drama at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). In addition to leading Shakespeare in Detroit, she is a Visiting Assistant Professor of MFA Directing at one of the nation's top theatre training programs at Indiana University (Bloomington). Upcoming: she will direct for Shakespeare in Detroit during the summer of 2023 (show announcements forthcoming). In addition, White will be directing Wedding Band by Alice Childress at the Stratford Festival in 2023 and is currently developing an exciting, multi-sensory performance of a Shakespeare play for The Old Globe (San Diego) soon-to-be announced.
Christine Pellecchia, Managing Director and Lead Educational Facilitator
The classically-trained dancer and administrator leads Shakespeare in Detroit's educational and outreach efforts and is dedicated to expanding the STEAM program for students in grades K -12 in addition to managing a team of teaching artists and supporting Sam White as deputy administrator. She holds a Bachelor's of Arts from Oakland University in English Literature and has an extensive background in small business management.
