SHAKESPEARE IN DETROIT'S 2018 -- EQUITY & NON-EQUITY AUDITIONS

Shakespeare in Detroit will host its 2018 auditions on Saturday, January 27th at 10:30 a.m. EST. The last audition will take place at 5:30 p.m. EST at 8109 E. Jefferson, Detroit, MI 48214 (the historical Stearns mansion). Street parking is available with some limited parking behind the building.

The company is auditioning for summer 2018 activities, events and plays. These include "Much Ado Para Nada," a dual language adaptation from Shakespeare by Bernardo Mazón, directed by Jennifer Tuttle, along with a modern verse translation of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" by Alison Carey, directed by JaMeeka Holloway-Burrell, originally commissioned by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Play on! program.

Preparation:

Actors are encouraged to prepare two comedic Shakespeare monologues for the audition.

 

****Spanish-speaking actors are asked to prepare a monologue (Shakespeare or otherwise) to also perform. Please bring two copies of your headshot and two resumes. 

 

Important info regarding "Much Ado Para Nada": Some characters  may only speak Spanish, some may speak both Spanish and English and others may only be English speaking characters. A diversity of Spanish dialects are welcomed and encouraged.

NOTE: Callbacks are Monday, January 29, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the former Durfee Middle School now known as Life Remodeled (10000 Linwood St, Detroit, MI 48206). The stage manager will contact those who are asked to attend with room number and additional info.
